Natalia Vega
Natalia Vega is a Colombian art historian and art critic currently based in New York, with studies at Harvard and Tufts University, from where she holds her degree in Art History with specialization in museum studies.
She has been curator of Museo Nacional de Colombia, Tufts University Art Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts of Boston, Brooklyn Museum and Museo del Barrio in New York. Aside from curatorial work she also developed educational materials for these institutions.
Additionally, Vega publishes frequently on Latin American art, among others in 'Arte' by Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogota, magazine 'El Mundo', magazine 'Museologia' in Spain, and for 'El Tiempo' in Colombia. She wrote the 'History of Colombian Art' for Grove Dictionary of Art (Oxford University Press), London. Currently she is a lecturer at the department of education at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and works as an independent scholar, curator and art critic.
Eduardo Serrano
Eduardo Serrano has been the Curator of the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (1974-1994); Curator of la Casa del Nariño (the Colombian Presidential residence, 1990-1994); Member of the Board of Directors of the Colombian Institute of Culture (Colcultura, 1990-1994); President of the Colombian Association of Museums (1989-1990); and Director of Cultural Affairs of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Relations (1999-2002). He is currently the Director of the Arts department of the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
His educational background includes anthropology and the history of art at New York University (1965-1969) and anthropology at los Andes University, Bogotá (1969-1970). Academically, Serrano has been Professor of Art History and Artistic Appreciation at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, Bogotá. His art criticism has appeared in leading Colombian publications, like El Tiempo and El Espectador newspapers and the magazine Semana. He has also appeared on numerous Colombian television programs and served as a juror in many international art competitions.
Serrano has organized a wide variety of exhibitions for such venues as the New York Museum of Modern Art, Colombia's participation at the Bienales in Sao Paolo and Venice, the Petit Palais of Paris, the Feria Internacional of Seville and the museums of modern art of numerous Latin American capitals.
Additionally, Serrano has authored the books 'One Hundred Years of Colombian Art' and 'Colombian Contemporary Art'.
